Urban nature connects us

The Conexus project is bringing together Latin American and European partners to strengthen international cooperation on nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration.

Nature-based solutions:

“actions to protect, conserve, restore, sustainably use and manage natural or modified terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems, which address social, economic and environmental challenges effectively and adaptively, while simultaneously providing human well-being, ecosystem services and resilience and biodiversity benefits.”

By connecting researchers, policy makers, local communities and developers, the Conexus project is co-creating and evidencing solutions that are inspired and supported by nature.

These partnerships are informing changes in urban policy and practice in Bogotá (Colombia), São Paulo (Brazil), Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain) and Turin (Italy).

Nature-based solutions definition infographics

Conexus has developed two infographics that communicate the globally agreed definition of nature-based solutions adopted by the UN Environment Assembly in March 2022.

The infographics were shared at COP15 in Montreal under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence so they can be freely used and adapted.
